Nearly 8,000 students in Hanoi are taking entrance examinations for high schools for the gifted and dual-degree programmes for the 2021-2022 academic year from June 14-16, following the completion of their 10th grade entrance exams at public schools on June 12-13. |
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has prepared more than 400 testing rooms ensuring security, order and pandemic prevention and control. The city continues to maintain its plans regarding receiving candidates, distancing, disinfection and body temperature measurement. Hanoi has four high schools enrolling students into specialised classes, including the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School, and Son Tay High School. Of them, Hanoi-Amsterdam and Chu Van An enroll students in dual-degree programmes (Vietnamese national diploma and the Cambridge International A Level). According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, a total of 7,702 candidates have registered to attend entrance exams for specialised classes (first choice), with the Nguyen Hue high school recording the most at 3,083, followed by the Hanoi-Amsterdam school with 2,343, the Chu Van An school with 1,953, and the Son Tay school with 323. In addition to meeting admission requirements, students must take two rounds of exams, including the preliminary admission for students who meet the requirements and have valid applications, and the entrance exams for those having passed the first round. Candidates take three tests for admission to non-specialised classes, including Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language, while those applying for specialised classes have to take an additional test in a subject of their choice. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training only considers admission into the specialised 10th-grade classes for candidates who sit enough tests as prescribed, do not violate exam regulations in a such serious manner that their test results are cancelled, and achieve above a certain mark (2) in each test. On June 15-16, nearly 300 candidates across the city will sit the entrance exam for the dual-degree programmes. Source: Nhan Dan Online |
